Why this aircraft matters

Developed for air-launch missions, Roc first flew in 2019. Stratolaunch now uses it to support hypersonic vehicle flight testing.

Size and design

Two fuselages support a broad centre wing where payloads are carried and released. Six engines and reused 747 systems support the unusual scale.

At 73 metres long and 117.35 metres across, the Roc occupies a very different physical envelope from an everyday single-aisle airliner. Dimensions alone do not tell the entire story: payload, cabin volume and intended role determine how that space is used.
