Start with the use case
The real A380 is 72.7 metres long, so even a scale model can consume surprising shelf space. Start with the model’s finished dimensions, then compare manufacturer detail and livery accuracy.
Three sensible routes
1:500 A380
- Approx. 14.5 cm fuselage length
- Consistent fleet scale
- Printed rather than stickered details
1:400 A380
- Approx. 18.2 cm length
- Metal body
- Accurate wing flex and engine shape
1:200 A380
- Approx. 36.4 cm length
- Secure stand
- Detachable gear where offered
What to avoid
- Buying before measuring the shelf
- Confusing 1:200 with 1:400
- Unlicensed liveries with distorted markings
