Start with the use case
The 747 shape changed across five decades. Check the exact variant before buying: a 747-100, 747-400 and 747-8 have visibly different fuselage, wing and engine details.
Three sensible routes
1:400 747 fleets
- Correct upper-deck length
- Variant-specific wingtip
- Era-appropriate livery
1:200 747 centrepieces
- A protected display area
- Secure gear and aerial details
- A stand rated for the model weight
747 cutaway models
- Clearly labelled sections
- Documented scale
- Rigid transparent case
What to avoid
- Listings that omit the 747 variant
- Mismatched livery and aircraft era
- Fragile resin shipped without fitted foam
